Combing the Depths of a Bizarre Fantasy

On a recent Savage Love podcast, a caller describes her sexual fantasy as "the classic peasant girl  is dominated by an aristocratic man. Except the man is a dragon and the peasant girl is a were-raven."  Sexual relationships between members of different classes and social strata is a common theme in classic literature. the power dynamic and taboo nature of the relationship make a compelling story. The substitution of the characters is what I find puzzling and worth dissecting. Does the substitution of the dragon for the aristocrat make much of a difference(besides anatomically)? both are powerful and capable of taking what they want with little recourse. What is a were-raven and in what ways can they relate to serfdom? Does it even matter? in this day of media saturation are bizarre sexual fantasies involving seemingly unrelated characters the only thing we have left as individuals?

The Dragon and the Were-raven

whenever one has a query that can only be answered by fanfic writing fantasy nerds the first place to go is  TvTropes.org. a website populated by the some of the strangest Internet subcultures. On this site commenter's will have endless conversations on the theoretical sexual relationships between fictional characters often in totally different universes. exactly the type of people that will help me get to the bottom of our fantasy.

Dragons are a common topic of conversation and debate at TvTropes and my goal was to find information pertinent to dragons and the role they play romantically with humans. Finding what I was looking for was like walking through a minefield of shame and creepy imagery. Even if I found what I came for, I knew I would not return fully intact. As I read more and more I started to realize that to each   person that dragons had vastly different meanings. To one poster the Dragon just kidnaps the peasant girl to get his true love, the prince, to notice him. Unable to communicate his emotions he resorts to brutish violence to gain the attention of his hearts desire. To another Dragons simply use humans as an object for reproduction, discarding them when no longer needed.  TvTropes allows its users to redefine the ideas and themes of classical fiction through individual perversion and warped sexual attitudes. It is from this process of intertwining traditional narratives with the overactive imaginations of the sexually frustrated that forges these unique and bizarre fantasies.  Websites like TvTropes incubate such oddities because they don't self censor and socially ostracize and instead encourage the construction of these fantasies.

Before the Internet there was another environment with similar conditions that bred many a bizzarre fantasy. I'm talking about Dungeons and Dragons,  based off of established fantasy principles but where control of the story and its details were left completely up to the imaginations of its players. Within this framework the sexually freaky and frustrated could have an outlet for their ideas in a safe environment surrounded by others wishing to do the same. I looked up what a were-raven is according to D&D rules and could go into detail now but I think were way past that. If I was trying to make a point I'm not even sure what it was.  I need to get off this subject before I'm tempted write a love story between the dad from Family Matters and Uncle Phil....oh wait that actually happened.
